Reveal: Our Guest Room Makeover, courtesy of Walmart!
There’s no sign of summer cooling down, so when Walmart offered to help me redecorate our home, I jumped at the opportunity to give our guest room a coastal makeover!
Did you know that Walmart Home has an amazing selection of items ranging from furniture and accessories, to bedding and artwork -- all at affordable prices? I absolutely love how the room turned out and am so excited to share it with you all today.
The room itself isn’t massive, so it was important for me to choose each piece wisely. I picked out a beautiful tufted platform bed in linen because the color is neutral enough to work for any season and direction this room might take in the future (it might remain a guest room but could also one day turn into an office or a bonus room for the kids). I usually stay on the simpler side with a larger item like a bed since it isn’t something you swap out regularly.
Bedding and pillows, on the other hand, are the perfect items to change up with the seasons. The chambray bedding on this bed is down alternative, so it’s lightweight enough for summer but still incredibly plush. I have a feeling it’ll remain a favorite even in the cooler months. The quilt is reversible, so you can show either the chambray or the gray and white striped pattern -- and both are neutral enough to match nearly everything.
To make the bedroom even more inviting, I layered a set of linen throw pillows along with a coordinating cotton one, all in neutral/coastal colors and a striped throw blanket, which I placed in a basket by the bed.
I added a natural fiber rug beneath the bed because I love the look and feel under toe. Natural fiber rugs can work in nearly any room either on their own or layered with other rugs. I chose to leave this one on its own because I like the beachy, summery feel -- but they look just as great with a smaller rug in a fun pattern layered on top. In the winter, I may add a softer rug to dial up the coziness factor.
Above the bed, I chose to hang a set of coral prints (also in neutral colors) to complete the look. They fit perfectly over a queen size bed and really make the room. Again, they were incredibly affordable and can easily be swapped out in the fall/winter to be replaced with something else (different artwork, a wreath, etc.).
Last but certainly not least, I added two sets of lightweight sheer curtains to layer over our custom blackout shades. It always amazes me how window treatments can absolutely transform a space. By placing curtains or shades over a window, you’re able to add more textures and patterns to a room and make the entire space feel warmer and more inviting. These specific curtains let the sun shine through so they make our guest room light and airy all day long.
I’ve linked to all of the items I used in our guest room as well as others I fell in love with while shopping on Walmart.com, so check the bottom of this post and follow me on LiketoKnow.it for product details!
A big thank you again to Walmart for helping me with this room! I absolutely love it <3
