Jacob's Bedroom Refresh: Part 2.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know all about Ava’s big girl room and the gallery wall that I designed for her in partnership with Minted. Well unsurprisingly, as soon as Jacob saw her room, he immediately wanted a little room refresh of his own (which I happily obliged to because let’s face it, I love changing things up!).
This post is sponsored by Minted and contains affiliate links. All opinions are entirely my own. I only share brands and products that I truly love and support.
The first thing we did was to expand his accent wall of wallpaper to wrap around the remaining three walls in his room (which you can read about here). That was part one of Jacob’s bedroom refresh and part two involves art!
Jacob and I spent a long time browsing Minted’s children’s collection, which includes hundreds of unique pieces designed by a community of independent artists, and saving the pieces that he liked. Jacob loves animals, nature, and the color yellow so we really had fun with this :)
Once we pulled about 10 favorite pieces, I asked Jacob to show me which were his favorites and then I measured his wall space to determine the sizes that we would need for each. These are the pieces we chose:
Full disclosure: when planning a gallery wall, I usually mock it up so I can get a general feel for how the pieces work together but I almost always change the layout in the end. Here’s a look at the original mood board that I pulled together:
So cute right?! I customized the size, style, and frame of each piece of art on Minted.com and then placed my order. Once it all arrived, I unwrapped it and laid all of the pieces out to see if my original layout worked or if it needed to to be tweaked.
I always have a lot of fun playing around with gallery wall designs but if you ever need help, Minted makes art styling easy. Did you know that you can text a photo of your wall to 415-993-WALL (9255) and a Minted stylist will text you back art recommendations that perfectly fit your space for free?! How cool is that?
Once I was fairly confident with the layout, I grabbed my tools and started hanging the pieces on the wall. Gallery walls are always a lot of fun. I love mixing mediums, frame styles and sizes to create a wall that’s totally unique. This one in Jacob’s room aligns with his interests perfectly and every time he looks at it, it makes him happy. Which, of course, was always the goal.
Today, I posted a fun little reel showing how the gallery wall turned out, which you can watch HERE. See below for a few more shots of the finished room:
I’m so thrilled with how this room turned out. The best part? Minted was kind enough to give me a discount code to share with all of you! Code MICHELLEART20 will give you 20% off + free shipping on all framed fine art prints :) Click HERE to shop!
And because I always get asked about the sizes I use, below are links to each piece that we chose for Jacob’s gallery wall and I’ve included both the size and frame type.
