Outdoor Refresh.

With the weather warming up and so many of us staying safely at home, I’ve found it to be the perfect time to update our outdoor space for spring! It’s just one way in which I can stay positive and try to make the best out of what’s going on at the moment.

I’ve always loved natural rattan seating. I like to incorporate it throughout my home, mixing it with upholstered pieces and layering on pillows and throw blankets for added comfort. I love the texture it brings to a space, not to mention how kid-friendly it is (everything wipes clean with a damp cloth, which is so important when you have kiddos running around!). It’s the perfect blend of polished and relaxed and works so well in nearly any space. You’ll remember that we upgraded our kitchen counter stools and dining chairs to Riviera Counter Stools and Riviera Side Chairs last fall and I haven’t looked back since!

More recently, I was lucky enough to collaborate with Serena & Lily to add a few more rattan pieces to our home — this time to our outdoor space — which I’m so excited to finally share with you!

We have a covered front porch that I’ve wanted to add a swing to for ages so when the opportunity arose to finally do so, I quickly chose the Hanging Rattan Bench, which fits perfectly and has enough room for us all to pile on together!

I actually debated for a short time between this bench or hanging two Chairs (which I LOVE) but ultimately decided that it would be so much nicer for us all to curl up together in one place.

The bench is securely hung on our covered porch and I added a few of my favorite pillows to cozy it up even more.:

Did you know that Serena & Lily has a ton of gorgeous indoor/outdoor pillows that look and feel just as beautiful as their indoor ones? I chose these Montecito Pillows in grey, which I’ve had my eye on for so long (and are currently on sale!). They’re MASSIVE and so, so comfy. The kids actually like to use them inside when building pillows forts! In addition to the Montecito pillows, I also added one of my Granada pillows, which is not technically an outdoor pillow but I used it with an indoor/outdoor pillow insert and it’s been working really well on our covered porch.

In addition to the bench swing, we added a pair of rattan Catalina Rockers to our backyard space, which are so, so fun!

I wanted something a little different from the traditional arm or side chair and these rockers are just that; totally sturdy and comfortable but also playful. My kids absolutely love them! I’m playing around with where they’ll live in the backyard by testing them out in a few places. Here they are on the side corner of our yard where we have a wide paved walkway (I added my Topanga pillows to cozy them up even more):

And here they are on the other side of our house where the kids have a playhouse:

I’m actually going to keep them here for now because the kids have been playing out here daily (thank goodness for this spring weather) and these rockers give me a comfy place to sit close by. You’ll notice that I have them in gray but they also come in natural rattan color that’s also gorgeous.
